HeartSmart IMT Plus is an advanced, safe, painless and affordable device for detecting cardiovascular disease. Easy and quick to use, it can be performed in as little as 10 minutes. This device uses a special ultrasound technique that determines the thickness of the carotid artery since there is a high correlation between the development of heart disease and the Intima Media Thickness (IMT) of this artery.

The device uses ultrasound imaging to determine the Intima Media Thickness of the carotid artery.
Consequently, this helps detect atherosclerosis at the early stage. Numerous studies reveal a close link between coronary artery disease and carotid artery intima media thickness.

The device also helps detect plaque and determines its characteristics. As soft plaque can lead to stroke or heart attack, it is important to detect it as soon as possible.

What are the main causes of heart failure?

The following are some of the major reasons why heart failure occur:

Cardiomyopathies (a disease that affects the muscles of the heart)Coronary Artery DiseaseDiabetesHigh Blood PressureEmphysema

Early diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases can help prevent heart attacks

Heart diseases claim hundreds of thousands of lives across the globe every year. Most of the deaths that occur due to these diseases can easily be avoided if they are detected at an early stage. Cardiovascular diseases are more fatal than cancer and are not always easy to diagnose quickly.

With early detection, a doctor can develop the right treatment to prevent the possibility of a heart attack or stroke occurring.

An unexpected heart attack is usually a sign of a hidden cardiovascular disease. The severity of these attacks depends on various factors, such as the physical health of the patient in question and his/her age. Unfortunately, a quarter of the people facing a heart attack for the first time do not survive the ordeal.

The American Heart Association, the American Society of Echocardiography and the American College of Cardiology recognize the early detection of heart disease in asymptomatic patients.

HeartSmartIMTplus also detects the plaque levels in the arteries that can lead to life-threatening heart attacks. Soft plaque is more dangerous than hard plaque because bits and pieces of it can easily break off and lead to the blockage of some of the important arteries that carry blood from the heart to various parts of the body. This could lead to the rupture of these arteries and a fatal heart stroke could occur as a result of this.

Well Life Family Medicine can diagnose your medical problems at an early stage

Since HeartSmartIMT plus accurately gauges the plaque levels in the arteries, it can be used as an early warning device against potential heart strokes or attacks.

Well Life Family Medicine uses HeartSmartIMTplus and a host of other early disease detection devices to diagnose various kinds of medical problems at an early state. This allows our expert healthcare professionals to formulate an effective plan to deal with these problems in a timely manner before they deteriorate and cause serious problems for our patients
