In addition to what you would expect from any family medicine clinic, we utilize many different modalities in our attempt to improve your quality of health, whether it is pharmaceutical or nutraceutical.

Routine primary care is provided for newborns to adults. We do everything that a primary care practice does plus we deliver it in an integrative way. This includes routine physicals, gynecological care (including pap smears), same day visits for acute conditions, and chronic disease management.

How Integrative Medicine Works

During the healing process, the patient and the practitioner are partners.

Factors affecting the patient’s health and wellness are examined. It must be kept in mind that apart from the mind and body, the healing process includes the patient’s spirit and community. So while medicine may heal their mind and body, it is emotional support and connection that will heal their spirit.

In order to start healing, both conventional and alternative methods are appropriately used. This form of medicine does not reject conventional medicine. Rather, it depends on the effectiveness of this medicine so the patient has the physical strength to approach their spiritual healing accordingly. Although, natural and safer interventions are used, wherever permissible.

It is important to remember that integrative medicine makes use of science. As such, any theory that is inquiry-driven is open for use. Effective medicine is always open to new possibilities, especially since it is driven by research and questioning. Per se, when coupled with the right medical treatment, this mode of medicine educates patients about the importance of maintaining good health and preventing illness through the use of numerous elements.

In addition to handling health problems, integrative medicine centers more on the deeper cause of the person’s illness and uses that to focus on the disease’s prevention and further development of healthier life habits so the patient can live a happier, healthier life.

Integrative Medicine vs. Other Types of Medicine

Though non-traditional, integrative medicine is considered a better mode of care. Integrative medicine pairs conventional medical treatments with complementary treatments, and backs each treatment with research-based science. This way, the patient knows that not only is this form of care safe, it’s also likely to work.

Medicine is not just to better your health and body. By focusing on building a healthy behavior and bettering your life skills, patients can recover and take advantage of this extra care to manage any and all future ailments.

The Defining Principles of Integrative Medicine

Patient and practitioner are partners in the healing process.

All factors that influence health, wellness, and disease are taken into consideration, including mind, spirit, and community, as well as the body.

Appropriate use of both conventional and alternative methods facilitates the body’s innate healing response.

Effective interventions that are natural and less invasive should be used whenever possible.

Integrative medicine neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative therapies uncritically.

Good medicine is based in good science. It is inquiry-driven and open to new paradigms.

Alongside the concept of treatment, the broader concepts of health promotion and the prevention of illness are paramount.

Practitioners of integrative medicine should exemplify its principles and commit themselves to self-exploration and self-development
